A little about me...
I am Mark Salinas and I am running to be your next Galveston County Sheriff. Born and raised on Galveston Island, I am the youngest of three siblings. My parents, Maria Rivera Aleman and Alfredo V. Salinas, gave all their energy to ensure that their children would lead better lives. My mom worked two jobs, one as a clerk at UTMB and another as a custodian at night. My father immigrated from Mexico and became a citizen of this country while working for the City of Galveston.
I attended Galveston ISD schools and graduated from Ball High, received my associate degree from Galveston Community College and completed my Bachelors in Criminal Justice at the University of Houston-Downtown through the 100 Club Scholarship.
My Family...
In 2006, I met my future wife Michelle. She laughed at my jokes and I decided she was a keeper. In 2008, we were married on a beach in Galveston. We have two boys, Maddix and Mason. We currently live in Texas City and love our community.
Law Enforcement
My career in law enforcement began in 2000 with the Port of Galveston Police Department. From there, I found a full-time position with the Galveston Sheriff’s Office and served in corrections, courthouse security and the school liaison divisions. I am currently employed in Harris County as a Investigator.
I want to be your Sheriff because I will bring new ideas and a fresh perspective for our County Law Enforcement.
